Midfielder Andranik Teimourian has joined Fulham after being released by Bolton Wanderers. The Iranian impressed at times and many fans at the Reebok fear that losing him may well come back to haunt them.

Andranik showed promise in the latter half of his first season, scoring a brace at both Doncaster and Wigan and appeared to be that rare thing in a Bolton midfield – a player with high energy levels and a good short passing game. Which meant he was doomed as soon as Gary Megson took over.

Megson showed his preference for big hoofers by signing Tamir Cohen and persisting with Kevin Nolan despite a run of wretched form. Using Andranik would have meant changing the way that Bolton played and Megson, understandably maybe, didn`t want to do that.

Not that Andranik is some sort of midfield maestro, but with a suitable partner he could provide mobility through the middle of the park, a feature of Bolton`s play that is sadly lacking. It remains to be seen if Roy Hodgson can develop the player`s potential. If he can, then Fulham have got themselves a bargain.
