Be Nice to The Ginger One : A Plea

There appears to be something of a propaganda campaign springing up around Bolton manager Gary Megson, as the club desperately looks for ways to improve his popularity. With the Wanderers sitting (albeit precariously) in mid-table and after consecutive wins, one might think that the pitchforks would have been put back into storage. Alas not. Everyone still hates him.

The Bolton News kicked off the redemption campaign with a piece asking supporters not to abuse the boss, although it was perhaps unwise to regurgitate his words from after the Tottenham game.

‘It`s like water off a duck`s back and doesn`t bother me too much,` said the Ginger One. Not that there is anything wrong with ducks. They`re delicious. Our preference is for the crispy variety, served in pancakes with Hoisin sauce.

Cheer leader Fan`s Liason officer, Tony Kelly has joined in, via his weekly column in the same paper. ‘I Know I won`t be popular with some people, but Gary Megson deserves some praise after back-to-back Premiership wins. That was a great result at Hull and another example of the lads fighting for each other and for the manager,` writes the former midfield tubster.

Even the nationals have joined in, with some writers suggesting that Wanderers fans are a tad ungrateful. These are the same publications that have slagged off Bolton`s football for the past few years.

Here on Vital Bolton we like to help, so below you`ll find a badge that you can print off, cut out and pin to your chest at the Liverpool game. If you have a colour ink jet printer, then so much the better. If not, go out and buy one. Show the club that you`re a real fan.
