Blackburn : The Countdown Begins

Bolton`s upcoming game with Blackburn has received a good deal more hype than usual, and it seems to having the desired effect. No doubt helped by the reduced admission price of £15, Rovers have sold their initial allocation of 3,000 tickets and a further tranche is selling well too. At the other end of the stadium, seats in the North Lower are all taken and Wanderers fans are being encouraged to bring flags to the game. Presumably the one below won`t be welcome.

Bolton supporters may be thinking that it`s a long time, since they saw a game at the Reebok and they`ll be right. Two away games and the international break means that it is almost a month since the defeat to Arsenal.

The club are keen to replicate the atmosphere of that game, if not the result. Pre-match will see the debut of the much requested, but until now denied, fanzone – aka the Premier Suite, an area usually reserved for corporate events. Fans are requested not to do anything unspeakable to/in it.

With the teams above facing difficult games, a win for the Whites would put them in mid-table. However that may be easier said than done. Bolton haven`t recorded a home win over the neighbours since 2000, when both teams were outside the Premier League. It is however, the first Saturday game at 3pm between the two sides since the 2003-4 season, when the Wanderers came out on top in a thrilling 4-3 encounter at Ewood Park. Clutching? Straws? Us? As if.

A rather nifty site with some match memorabilia. Blackburn fans might want to give this a miss.
