Expectations, albeit after just one game, have probably been lowered a little by some Bolton fans following a 3-0 thrashing at Vicarage Road against Watford on Saturday afternoon

Watford were quick out of the traps with Troy Deeney (17) easing the ball over ‘keeper Andy Lonergan, given the nod as the no.1, to open the scoring as he latch onto a pass from Gabriele Angella.

The second wasn’t too far behind!

Matej Vydra (23) was able to avoid Tim Ream’s challenge to add the second, the Deeney and Vydra partnership was reunited after a season apart, this yielded 44-goals the season before last.

How Wanderers would love a prolific pairing like that, Deeney himself has bagged as many goals (44) alone in the past two seasons but the interest is growing in the 26-year-old striker and his goal could increase the chances that he isn’t going to score in the return meeting at the Macron later in the season?

Two-nil down at half time, Wanderers managed to avoid further goals until 10-minutes from time when Fernando Forestieri (80), just a minute after coming on, raced away to complete the three-nil win

Rumour has it that Joe Mason has agreed to return on loan, he’ll need to hit the ground running as much will be required from the Cardiff City forward who will be one of the main sources of goals at the Macron Stadium this season!

Was this defeat expected? Can Dougie Freedman motivate his troops to respond?
