Bolton grabbed their second win of the season yesterday as they managed to beat an in-form Norwich side 2-1. It was the most pleasing win of the season, while the recent unbeaten run is welcome, it was offset by the fact we were losing late goals and dropping points against teams such as Sunderland and Fulham who weren`t in particularly great form. This however, was a team who had would their last four Championship games on the road, and after a tough first 25 minutes, where the Canaries looked to control possession and pick their moments to threaten, we managed to go ahead, and from there we never looked back,
Sammy Ameobi continued his fine form. While he didn`t score or assist the first goal, it was his ball that released Darren Pratley who set up Gary Madine to finish.
Before half-time, it would be 2-0. Adam Armstrong`s continued inclusion on the left has been the one real bone of contention in recent team selections, including from me, but he has been improving and finally got his league goal for Bolton.
The second half, unusually for a Wanderers game this season, went by quickly and rather painlessly. There would be time for us to concede the now obligatory late goal, but by the time Josh Murphy beat Ben Alnwick from a tricky angle, we was already in the third of four additional minutes.
We`re now in a position where we can make the Macron a bit of a fortress. We`ve won two of our last three at home, and with Reading, Barnsley and Burton being our next three home games, we have to get a decent haul from those matches. If we do, this team may prove that they do belong in this league.
