Bolton Beat The Snow And Beat Wimbledon

Bolton got back to winning ways yesterday with a very comfortable 4-0 win over AFC Wimbledon.

There was a small doubt of the game going ahead. Snow on Saturday morning meant there was an effort needed to clear the pitch, but the club always seemed confident and around 1.20pm came confirmation that the game would go ahead.

After changes in midweek Ian Evatt reverted to a more familiar lineup. The only notable omission was MJ Williams being named among the substitutes, with a start for Kyle Dempsey in place. Jon Dadi Bodvarsson got the nod to be the third of the front three, with the more automatic choices of Dion Charles and Dapo Afolayan.

As a performance you couldn’t really ask for much more, maybe except for the finishing in the first half, where we had plenty of opportunities but it was Aaron Morley’s corner and Bodvarsson’s header which yielded the opening goal.

The second half could have been anything, Afolayan was threaded through by Charles to round the keeper and put the ball into an empty net for 2-0, before Charles’ pressing forced a mistake and he broke away to make it three. Amadou Bakayoko scored for the third Saturday in succession, coming off the bench and heading a cross in.

We’re still tenth, but the gap to the play-offs is down to seven points. Lincoln will be harder on Tuesday, they seem to be one of those sides who play better away from home, but we should be confident of continuing this fine form.
