Bolton have signed central defender Mark Beevers on a free transfer, after signing a two year contract at the Macron Stadium.

Beevers had played the last few seasons down at Millwall, and the road from south London to Horwich is becoming one well trodden, with Chris Taylor, Liam Feeney and Liam Trotter making the same move in recent years. Hopefully Taylor and Beevers can be more universally popular signings than the other two names mentioned.

He had signalled a desire to move back up north. Beevers grew up in Barnsley and played 140 games for Sheffield Wednesday, where he came through the youth setup.

Bradford were reportedly interested, but Phil Parkinsn has persuaded Beevers to pick his new club rather than his former employers.

Beevers comes in at 6ft4, a big central defender which appears to be a natural replacement for David Wheater. With Championship and League One experience, and promotion from this division with the Owls in 2012, it seems like a good move for Wanderers.
