Bolton Down To The Barest of Bones For Tranmere Trip

|

Bolton’s second league away day is tomorrow – and involves a trip to a familiar foe.

Tranmere Rovers are a team that has provided us with some tasty encounters, particularly in the 90s and 2000s – this is the first time we’ve been to Prenton Park in the league since Mike Whitlow scored in a 1-0 win in August 2000, and it will be the first time since 1999 that the players will use the showers in a league game.

Back to 2019 though, and it’ll be another huge challenge for Bolton’s youngsters. Luke Murphy and Jason Lowe are now the two remaining senior outfield players, while Dennis Politic is only “40% fit,” and Liam Edwards definitely out of contention. Wanderers have been seemingly unable to register any new players, ruling out the possibility of Jack Hobbs slotting in at the back.

A growing trend this season is our decent away followings, and will be close to selling out the away end yet again, with over 1650 tickets sold at the last update.

Tranmere have lost both league games so far after being promoted via the play-offs last season, and were soundly beaten in the Carabao Cup by Hull on Tuesday. If it weren’t for our points deduction, we’d be above them in the league. There a few defensive issues that hopefully we’ll be able to exploit,

Prediction time – it’ll be hard, these players are obviously tiring as games go on, but hopefully we’ll give Tranmere a right game tomorrow. 2-1 home win.
