It sounds pretty uninspiring, but the reality of where we are now is we’ve held a side a division above us to a draw.

These friendlies have gone largely to form with the exception of Mansfield. We’ve beat the teams we’re stronger than, we lost to the team two divisions above us (writing that bit hurts badly) and we drew at home to a team in a league above us.

So nothing to overly inspire, nor scare us.

Have we learnt anything more?

It seems Mark Howard will get the nod in goal next Saturday against his old club, playing the full 90 minutes today.

David Wheater and Frazer Richardson were involved again.

Phil Parkinson seems to want to sign both players, whether we can do that in the next week would be nice to know. It has gone very quiet since the Rob Holding sale, ironically.

Cover at the back may still be needed while injuries take their toll. Derik was in the squad today but didn’t play. The injuries in pre season probably haven’t been helped by flogging the players in double training sessions, but hopefully they will recover as soon as possible
