Bolton Eventually Get Kachunga On Board

|

Bolton have made a signing on the eve of the new season, with Congolese forward Elias Kachunga signing a two-year deal.

Kachunga, born in Germany, has plenty of experience in both his homeland and in England, having played for Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday over here. He can play as a central striker but I do get the feeling he was the one brought in after Xavier Amaechi’s injury, so he’ll probably spend a lot of time wide. Kachunga was a player we wanted earlier in the summer. For whatever reason, it couldn’t happen then,  but now he’s here.

It seems a good signing, I’ve seen one or two slightly negative comments, but if we can get him close to his 2016/17 form, where he managed to score double figures as Huddersfield went up to the Premier League, then he should be a solid player, who is after all, dropping to League One. His goals have dried up in recent seasons, probably not aided by Huddersfield’s awful run of around the time of them going back down, then joining an unsettled ship at Sheffield Wednesday, but he should be in a more positive environment here. He’s suited to English football  and he does work hard apparently, which is always a good thing. Plus if he plays on the right, yes we wants goals from him, but he’ll need to offer other things too.

It appears he’ll wear the number 24 shirt.
