Bolton Face Potential Banana Skin in Cup

|

Bolton have been handed a potential banana skin, because any football match is a banana skin for us at the moment, in the third round of the FA Cup.

We’ve been given a home draw against League One opposition, however, we’ll have to wait a week to know exactly who we will play as Sunderland and Walsall need a replay at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats are currently second in the division, while the Saddlers are 13th. The two sides drew 1-1 at the Banks’s Stadium on Saturday.

Wanderers won their most recent home games against both teams, beating Sunderland 1-0 last season and Walsall 4-1 the season before, Erhun Oztumer opening the scoring in spectacular fashion for Walsall that afternoon.

The game certainly won’t be picked for television in the UK, but may still not kick off at 3 pm on the Saturday. All FA Cup third ties will be made available for broadcast abroad, and there is expected to be staggering of the fixture list to help with this. So if we end up randomly playing on a Sunday, you sort of heard it here first.
