Bolton Finally Bring In Long-Standing Target

|

After training for us for a good few weeks, Bolton have finally completed the signing of Kieran Lee.

The midfielder has been without a club since leaving Sheffield Wednesday in the summer, after an eight-year spell at Hillsborough. Lee also had a significant spell at Oldham before that, so he brings a lot of experience to midfield.

The good news is that he has a good touch, can bring an ‘all-action’ style of play, and over the years has come up with some big goals for the Owls. The bad news is that he’s now 32, and although he played nearly 30 matches last season, that was after a couple of injury hit seasons.

Having said that, it’s testament to his ability that Lee could have easily have got a new deal with Wednesday in the summer. In the end, with options for them in the middle of the park, they eventually let him go. Maybe Lee thought he wouldn’t, shouldn’t need to drop too far down the pyramid, but here he is in League Two.

The overriding consensus from across the Pennines seems to be simple though, keep him fit and we’ll have a very good player on our hands.
