Bolton Finish Without Away Win

Bolton’s awful, awful season came to an end today as they went down to a 1-0 defeat at Craven Cottage.

The big headline in the Wanderers team news was the omission of Rob Holding. Jimmy Phillips has since confirmed to the media that he was instructed to leave Holding out of the squad as there is a bid for the player.

Fulham were on top for most of the match, with Ben Amos been called on numerous times to pull of a string of saves. In addition, Fulham’s strikers weren’t quite on their best form. After one counter attack in the first half, Matt Smith shanked a golden chance wide.

Not that dampened the spirits of the Bolton fans, who were utterly superb. God help us if we actually won something.

In the end, when Fulham finally did score it was deserved. Tom Cairney curled an effort past Amos in the 77th minute, and from then any small chance of getting that first away win of the season was slim to none.

Now begins the summer of upheaval and uncertainty. But it is fair to say the squad we will boast on the first day of next season will have many changes.
