Bolton Given Winnable EFL Trophy Tie

|

Bolton have discovered who they will play in the next round of the EFL Trophy.

After winning their group with a maximum haul of nine points from nine, Wanderers were guaranteed a home draw, and it’s fellow League One side Fleetwood who will make the trip to the UniBol. It’s likely the match will be played on Tuesday 30th November, but it’ll certainly be on a day that week, with league fixtures both the midweek before and after, it will have to be then.

It should be in theory a winnable tie for us, with a place in the last 16 up for grabs – Fleetwood currently sit in the relegation zone, with Simon Grayson’s men having won just three matches from 15 in the league and progression from their group in this competition will have been a bright spot.

It’s our first appearance in the knockout stages of the EFL Trophy in two years – back in 2019 we progressed from the group but then bowed out away to Accrington Stanley.
