Bolton Have Gone Up

We’ve done it!

Bolton are back in the Championship at the first time of trying. It was a day that started with nerves, but fans needn’t have worried as we won 3-0 and going up was never really in doubt on the day.

After a strong start Wanderers went ahead in the 22nd minute, when Dorian Dervite played a belter of a pass to Jem Karacan who fired home the opening goal. If the final game was then meant to be a microchosm of the season, we sort of got that. Bolton backed off, and Peterborough got chances, with David Wheater getting in the way of a Tom Nichols effort and Mark Beevers making one of the tackles of the season.

There was a small sense of relief that Bolton were ahead at half time, but early on in the second half, the advantage was doubled. There was a corner, Adam Le Fondre glanced a ball across and David Wheater headed in from two yards. From there, the atmosphere was much more assured and the party could begin.

Le Fondre then capped things off, Josh Vela played a great ball through and it was finished with aplomb.

A bit too excitedly, some idiots thought it was fine to start the customary pitch invasion while the game was still ongoing, but after a short delay things were concluded, and the celebrations could begin.

Promotion is a great achievement. We’ve done it despite being under an embargo. This club has suffered in the last few years, our fans have suffered these last few years. Today massively made up for it. Phil Parkinson has done an excellent job. Now, it’s time to take on the Championship.
