Bolton: In and Out

Morning, and on a day that could see us all get our summer back, this will be precised as I have to go and find the best spot in the pub.

Obviously, even after all my warnings, we have signed Martin Petrov. I have said what I feel about this until I was blue in the face but no one seemed to listen and I will now wait to see what he can do. I expect BIG things as most people seem to think he could be the start of the answer to our attacking problems. At least he can take a man on, which is more than can be said of the current left winger.

Having said that maybe there is a new job for our glandular fever suffering former Pompey player, as it appears that Newcastle United are set to increase their quota of Trotters cast offs by making a bid for Jlloyd. He certainly seems to be out of favour, only playing one league game since the change of manager and managing to score a cracking own goal in that game, and we do have a surplus of left backs, with Stefan and Ricky also able to play there. Add to this the fact that neither Petrov nor Taylor can track back, a player in the Jlloyd mould isn’t really needed. I’d be happy to part with him, as long as we can get the money back that we paid. And Matty could be transformed into a not going forward left back rather than a not tracking back left winger. Genius.

Talking of genius, Danny ‘The’ Shittu put himself in tne shop window last night with a performance of stunning ineptness in the Nigeria-South Korea game. After initially seeming to pull his knee ligaments by attempting to get back up early on, he gave away the free kick that put South Korea into the lead, almost scored an own goal with an inside flick and managed to break down his own teams attacks late on by pushing Korean players as Nigeria put themselves into a good position. The BBC3 commentator said during the game that Nigeria have had problems over the past ten years finding someone to partner Joseph Yobo and it now seems that they have reached the bottom of the barrel. From now on Nigeria will eschew all defending as they have no more central defenders left to select.

In the same game, Lee Chung-Yong kept himself busy, even if the commentator called him several different names during the commentary. This was despite the fact that he was the only player on the pitch with yellow boots. A little tip for BBC commentators: if you cannot tell orientals apart, just don’t say anything. It makes claims of Xenophobia less easy to prove.

Now remember, if you want to have something to say about last season and what your hopes are for the next, while getting your fix of kicking Megson when he’s down, you can answer our questions at the interview page and then emailing bolton@vitalfootball.co.uk.

Sore heads ahoy……
