Bolton are through to the second round of the League Cup for the first time in three years after a 2-1 win against Crewe at Gresty Road.

Now, work got in the way for me so I had to make to with the audio commentary, so I can`t and won`t make up opinions of who played well and not, I can only go off comments made by said commentator.

In general though, the result is great – we made ten changes from Sunday, and while we seemingly made it hard for ourselves, the cavalry was called for in the way of bringing Gary Madine, Jem Karacan, and for the first time this season, Filipe Morais on all the same time, and it came off. Adam Armstrong scored a 70th minute equaliser, a decent looking move (I have seen both goals) that the man on loan from Newcastle tapped in, then nine minutes from time, Morais put in the sort of delivery he did quite a few times last season, which set up Derik Osede`s first ever Bolton goal. Not all Championship clubs survived the first round, but we have.

The match stats point at a performance that looked to have a lack of incision in the final third for the most part – most of the possession, but we were only able to turn that into four attempts all match.

Anyone who did go, well it would be interesting to read your comments, or even if you fancy, email in your own verdict on the match (bolton@vitalfootball.co.uk)
In any case, we`re into the second round, and the draw for that will be made tomorrow night after Bury are hopefully beaten by Sunderland in that evening`s televised match.
