Jake Turner has been watched for a while
This morning`s paper talk involved a certain young goalkeeper of ours. Jake Turner, very much one for the future, so much where he has the tools to be an England international down the line, was linked in the Sun (yeah I know) with a move to Manchester United.
That report has been debunked for now. Lee Anderson put out a tweet stating an offer hasn`t been made, although United and other clubs have been keeping tabs for a while, and the Bolton News also understand a bid has yet to come in. Having said that, I remember the former tweeting that Zach Clough wasn`t going anywhere, hours before joining Nottingham Forest. Things can change quickly.
It might be one of those situations where we`d have to take an offer if the money is remotely reasonable, in the way Clough had to be sold last season, and Rob Holding was last summer. It`s also money for a player who hasn`t played a senior game yet, however much of a shame it would be to lose such a prospect.
On the other hand, is it really a clever move for the player? The Old Trafford side have had a number of promising young English goalkeepers in recent years. Sam Johnstone has just gone back out on loan to Aston Villa, with no immediate hope of even being number two under Jose Mourinho. Dean Henderson has been loaned out to Shrewsbury ahead of the season, while I can`t really remember what happened to that Ben Amos chap.
At the end of the day, if the money`s good enough, he`ll be gone. But there would be benefits for us and him if he could stick around for a little while.
