Bolton More Solid But Toothless Against Wimbledon

|

Bolton picked up what was only their fifth away point of the season yesterday, with a draw at AFC Wimbledon, who are in the relegation picture themselves.

It has come at a cost, because it always comes at a cost. Daryl Murphy, Remi Matthews and Jason Lowe have all joined the injury list. Matthews is the most pressing worry, being the club’s only goalkeeper who can legally buy a pint. Matt Alexander was brilliant in the Coventry game back in August, but playing a number of games in a row is a different task if that happens to be the case. Daryl Murphy would be a big loss in the goalscoring front had he actually scored any goals recently. Wanderers failed to register a shot on target yesterday, the best chance coming to Ali Crawford who managed to shank it. Dennis Politic appeared to be the sole attacking threat yesterday, more than just that is needed.

Some positive news came at the back at least. Keith Hill was forced into partnering Ryan Delaney and Toto Nsiala together for the first time but they handled the physical threat well. That’s back to back clean sheets, which even though is against only Wimbledon and Accrington at least points at the fact we’ve defended a bit better in recent games.
