Bolton went out of the EFL Cup at the first hurdle as they lost 4-2 away at Blackpool in extra time.

The defeat continues our away hoodoo, not winning away for 491 days. It all looked good when Jamie Proctor nipped in to give Wanderers the lead before half time, with a good delivery from Liam Trotter.

One negative in the first half was the premature end to the game for the returning Derik, who picked up a knock and was replaced by Josh Vela.

Controlling most of the play, with Mark Davies playing well but spurning a few chances, they were then made to pay as Kelvin Mellor and Brad Potts scored within a matter of minutes to turn the tie on its head.

Kaiyne Woolery, off the bench, took the match into extra-time with an equaliser.

Unfortunately it was as good as we got, extra time appeared pretty uneventful, but ten minutes from time Jim McAlister put the Tangerines ahead, before John Herron sealed our fate six minutes later.
