Bolton Sign Up Versatile Sadlier

|

Bolton have added another player to their ranks with the acquisition of Kieran Sadlier.

The Irishman will wear the number 22 shirt vacated by Dennis Politic and has signed a two and half year deal.

Sadlier was at West Ham as a youth player but went back to Ireland with Sligo Rovers and Cork City, before a move to Doncaster a couple of years ago. His efforts over the year or so there, managing 11 goals in 33 matches in the truncated 2019/20 season, got him a move to Rotherham, where he played in the Championship last season and again in League One this season.

He’s quite a versatile player – part of the problem for his at Rotherham is that he has been used as a wing-back, but he’s far more useful in other areas. His full season for Doncaster saw him play further forward, a winger who can score goals. He can also play in the number 10 role, and has even played as a full-on striker in his time, but Ian Evatt is almost certainly seeing him as a midfielder. Given Evatt’s comments recently, this seems like a signing in addition to either Kyle Dempsey or Yan Dhanda, and it should be a solid one at that.

Sadlier was linked with us earlier in the month. The signing didn’t happen then, but a bit like Elias Kachunga over the summer the opportunity eventually came again and this time we have the player.
