There were mixed fortunes for Bolton players in Wednesday`s internationals. Gretar Steinsson was on the losing side as Iceland went down 2-1 to Scotland. Johan Elmander suffered a similar fate with Sweden on the wrong end of a 2-0 score line against Serbia.

Ebi Smolarek had the best night, scoring four goals as Poland routed San Marino 10-0. The on loan striker will be back on the bench on Saturday at the Reebok as the Wanderers take on Middlebrough. Provided he can get to it before Ariza Makukula.
