Bolton Surely League One Bound After Awful Day at Swansea

That might be it.

Bolton’s defeat at Swansea yesterday, coupled with two players getting sent off, added to the fact Jay Fulton cleared out Josh Magennis and only got a yellow card, then add in the fact we finished the game with no strikers on the pitch, plus results not going our way, and it’s all obvious how this season is going to end, at least on the football side of things.

Not for the first time in recent weeks, Remi Matthews was in top form, as Swansea nearly managed 30 shots, effectively a chance every three minutes, he saved a penalty, and until the last 10 minutes, had kept it at 0-0. Luca Connell’s return was welcome too, and although he could get on the ball, there weren’t options for him getting forward for counter-attacks on the rare occasions we had it. Craig Noone gave away the penalty, then while on a yellow card went flying into a challenge. A bit daft, that.

Despite the one-way traffic, and maybe helped by the alcohol, there was a feeling that maybe we’d hold out, even with ten men, for a goalless draw. That wasn’t going to happen with nine men, Luke Murphy’s hospital pass forcing David Wheater into a challenge which received a straight red, and from there the inevitable would happen. McBurnie, misser of the penalty, would get his goal, before Bersant Celina finished it off in injury time.

Is Lincoln nice in August?
