Bolton Take A Step Back With Tranmere Thrashing

What is the point?

A few days ago we did rather well and got a win not be sniffed at away to a decent Cheltenham side. If we’re going to get promoted we just can’t turn up when the players feel like it. We also need to step up against teams that are in comparison average. Teams like Port Vale who had lost five in a row, yet still put six past us. Teams like Tranmere who had conceded five a week ago.

Yet Tranmere have beaten us 3-0 on our own patch. We made a bright start to the match, but that was it. We didn’t take advantage, and having dealt with set pieces on Tuesday, we let Peter Clarke head one in to put them ahead. The defending wasn’t any good for the second goal, and there was a penalty to boot as well. Every time we look as though we make a step forward, we go and take one or two back.

I can’t be bothered analysing it. It’s too frustrating. At least Tranmere’s supporters can be happy with the trophy they seemingly get for beating us.
