Bolton midfielder Sean Davis will be out for a period of time yet to be determined after an operation on the articular cartilage in his right knee.

Knee injuries seem to be a recurrent theme for the Whites. Blerim Dzemaili ruptured a cruciate ligament before he`d played a game for the club, Ricardo Gardner has made three recoveries from the same problem, Ricardo Vaz Te has just starting training again after being under the knife and there are fears for the future of Joey O`Brien, who has had another setback in his fight for fitness.

‘It is a disappointment for Sean and ourselves but injuries happen and we have got to deal with it,` Gary Megson told Bolton`s official site.

Davis arrived from Portsmouth on a free transfer in the summer, and has played only four competitive games for the Whites, being sent off in the last one against Liverpool.
