Can Bolton finish in the top six next season, and seriously mount a play-off push?

Well, according for former boss Roy McFarland they can!

To say, as he did in the Bolton News, that things ‘haven’t gone well for Bolton in the last couple of years’ would probably be an understatement wouldn’t it? But he feels ‘the club is solid and it is only a matter of time before it starts heading back in the right direction.’

After such a connection with Derby County has says that they are his first love but he still follows Bolton, due to enjoying his time with the club, and their results with the experience of a few years at this level likely to benefit them with everyone now knowing ‘what is expected of them.’

McFarland feels pretty sure that Bolton can make the top six and then after that ‘who know’, but he thinks Derby, which I think is a sound bet, will be in the automatic place.

There was definite improvement over the second half of last season, if there will be enough this summer to sustain a play-off push only time will tell but if consistency can be found in 2014/2015 then you never know!

What do you think?

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.
