Bolton To Face Liverpool or AFC Wimbledon

Bolton Wanderers are set to visit either Liverpool or AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup; provided that he doesn’t leave or Neil Lennon doesn’t want to cup tie the midfielder, this could mean a return to Anfield for local Liverpool lad and Bolton Wanderers captain, Jay Spearing who would be honoured to lead his team out against his former employers.

I’m happy with either AFC Wimbledon or Liverpool- the former would be a more winnable fixture for Bolton, whereas the latter would give Neil Lennon’s mean a real go.

The opportunity to play in the cup, in my opinion, should be one that is grabbed with both hands by Bolton- it could give young players invaluable experience and exposure and more expendable members a chance to show their worth. However, while I recognise the need to rest players for the league as we look to push for promotion, I’d like us to field a strong side no matter who we’re up against. I reckon, though, that Lennon would be more inclined to field a slightly weakened team against Wimbledon, should they overcome Liverpool, though Lennon does cherish cup competitions, having shone in the League Cup as a player for Leicester City.
