Will it be a Happy New Year for Bolton? It’s a tough start to 2019, a few weeks ago this would have been a case of two out of form teams, less so now. We’ve strung together a couple of unbeaten games at least, while Hull are coming into this game off the back of a win over table-topping Leeds – and at Elland Road to boot. Great, but at least we don’t have that weird tiger-mauling hand gesture.

Team news
Sammy Ameobi may need a fitness test, while Gary O’Neil may or may not be available and Andy Taylor may be missing again. For them, Fraizer Campbell faces a late check, ex-Wanderer Reece Burke will likely play after missing the game at our place, while fellow defender Tommy Elphick has been recalled by parent club Aston Villa.
Facts and stats
Bolton have won just once at the KCOM, their first ever visit in 2008, losing the last four visits, including last season’s 4-0 defeat.
The last seven games have flip-flopped between a Bolton win and a Hull win, by that logic we should win tomorrow as Hull won the last meeting in October.
This is the third meeting between the two clubs on New Year’s Day, there was a goalless draw in 1974 and a 1-0 win for us last year.
Bolton have won just one of their last 10 league games in January, but that was against Hull.
Prediction
We’ve been better, but would be surprised to get anything tomorrow. 1-0 loss.
