Bolton Turning Back The Clock With Transfer Targets?

|

Firstly, a transfer rumour is that. A rumour. But having signed Jason Lowe yesterday, a player we had looked to sign 12 months ago, we could be in for another player we’ve previously had interest in.

Journalist Alan Nixon tweeted this morning from his locked account that we are interested in veteran signing Danny Graham. He has been at Blackburn for the last couple of seasons.

“Parkinson wants Danny Graham. But there’s an option that means they can keep him. And that would mean a fee as well as top wages,” he reports.

Transfermarkt backs up that there is a one-year option on Graham’s contract – at age 32, you’d think and hope we wouldn’t bother if there was a fee to be paid. His goalscoring record in the second tier is alright, but it would fly in the face of the club’s publicly-stated wishes to get younger players in.

Graham is a player we’ve tried for before, in January 2014, back in the heady days of being able to pay fees. He might have been a good acquisition then. Surely we can do better now. Or at least get someone younger.
