Bolton v Bristol City: Meet The Opposition

|

Bolton play their first home game of the season on Saturday – and with the absence of a pre-season friendly, the first since Aaron Wilbraham kept us up in May. Bristol City are the opponents – here’s a quick run down of the GIF loving, cider-drinking Bristolians.

All-change

It’s been a busy summer in the South West. A few key players have departed from the side that had a particularly good first half of last season and a run to the Carabao Cup semi-finals, Aden Flint moved to Middlesbrough, Bobby Reid has gone to Cardiff, while Joe Bryan finally left on deadline day, going to Fulham. Incomings have included Andy Weimann, who scored in their 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest last weekend, and Jay DaSilva, who had been linked with us.

How could they line up?

Probably a 4-4-2, Lee Johnson’s preferred system: Maenpaa; Hunt, Webster, Wright, Dasilva; Eliasson, Pack, Brownhill, Paterson; Weimann, Eisa. Famara Diedhiou is suspended, while summer signing Hadeeb Adelakun has an injury.

Recent record at ours

Not great, winless in three league visits this decade. Draws in 2012 and 2015 (2-2 and 0-0) were followed by Bolton’s 1-0 victory last season.
