It’s unknown whether they’re linked to the similarly named Derby County, who have seemed to disappear from English football since failing to win the playoffs last season. Some players transferred to the new team, while others were brought in on loan.
Improving
There have been a few early losses, being thumped at home to Leeds plus defeats at Millwall and Rotherham, but overall Frank Lampard’s Derby County have done quite well, occupying a playoff place. Then there was Tuesday when they took the game to Manchester United and ended up winning on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Will that prove to be the cause of a hangover?
Players to watch
Mason Mount and Harry Wilson have excelled after signing on loan from Chelsea and Liverpool respectively. David Nugent has started the last couple of games up front for them, a man who we looked at before signing Christian Doidge.
