Bolton Wanderers: Can We Start Winning Now?

Four games in, no win. Now, I know that I have stressed throughout pre-season that results don’t matter, and I am sticking to that mantra, but performances do. We’ve not been good at all, and although I’m not worried, it would be nice to see us start on the right foot and get used to that winning feeling.

On Saturday, it was Crewe who were the latest team to stop us on our quest for victory. With a strong travelling contingent, and a few more minutes under the belt, I imagine that many thought that this game was the game that we stopped looking sorry for ourselves, and started to look like potential Championship champions.

And yet we managed to concede quite early in the game, with only a Martin Petrov penalty to hide our shame. It would be nice to see us create a few more chances, and although it is good to see the manager trying a few experiments, I doubt Pratley as a false nine was going to be the answer.

Zat Knight got injured half way through the first half; and even though that was something I’d have looked forward to during the first half of last season, we probably need him now. With injuries already building up, we need to bring in some reinforcements; maybe that Chelsea loan, Owen?

We face Morecambe on Wednesday, and if Crewe wasn’t the game to kick on, this will be.
