Bolton Wanderers: London Calling

On Sky

Morning everyone on this fantastic day of football. In about two hours I will be sat on a busy train to Euston, crate of cheap Danish lager at the ready, and I cannot wait. This is the day. FA cup Quarter-Final day. The day we show the country that we are back.

I’m all too aware that I am setting myself up for a fall, don’t you worry.

Vital Quotes:

The big-eared cousin of Batman who happens to play on the left for Spurs said to the Beeb: ‘It’s a massive game for us. We know our league form hasn’t been great of late, but the FA Cup is a different competition and, being at home, we’ve got a great chance to get to the semi-finals’. As I’ve said previously this week, I think they’d prefer to rectify that league form. Financially, the difference between a guaranteed group stage place in the Champions League far surpasses the prize money from winning the FA Cup. I hate that football is a business.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News:

Dawson and Huddlestone are out for the season, Lennon has a hamstring injury, and Adebayor, Gallas and King are all doubtful. Good stuff.

Player to watch: Luka Modric

This guy is just fantastic. His ball distribution skills are nearing Scholes’ at his peak, but he is a little weak. We need Muamba to bully him today, close him down and go in hard on him. If he doesn’t play, we have a much better chance in dictating play in the middle.

Bolton Wanderers Team News:

Coyle has hinted that he may rest a few first team players, which means we may see Pratley drop to the bench, or even out the squad. We can dream.

Player to watch: Marcos Alonso

If he plays I will feel a lot more confident about our right back situation against Gareth Bale, as Sam Ricketts can be moved to the other flank. He also provides another option when going forward in possession.

Match Facts & Stats

It’s the FA Cup; stats mean nothing.

Match Prediction:

I’m going to stick with Vital Bolton tradition and go for 2-0 Bolton. We will win today. I can just feel it……(Wembley fever)

Next Fixtures:

Villa on Tuesday. These could be a few exciting days for us. I’m tipping us to wake up on Wednesday with three more points and a place in the semis. I need to get my head out the clouds…..
