Bolton Win at the Den

Bolton put on a defensive masterclass to come away with a 2-0 win at the Den tonight.

Mark Beevers and David Wheater surely have to be regarded as the best centre-back pairing in this division now, as they had the Lions forward line in their pockets. Or if you want a cliche, they had them tamed.

Bolton didn’t waste any time going ahead too. Sammy Ameobi, really starting to find him rhythm in a Wanderers top now, rifled home a curling shot from range in the third minute, with his right foot.

Lee Gregory did nearly head home an equaliser mid way through the first half, but Mark Howard made a great save at the near post, the only real time he was definitely needed, as Zach Clough had a couple of chances denied.

Millwall pressed well as the second half progressed, and it was nervy at times as Wanderers just could not keep the ball on the ground.

In the end, David Wheater volleyed home a decisive goal with four minutes to go after a corner came out to him.

It’s Bolton’s fourth away win of the season, but the first by more than one goal since April 2015’s win over Cardiff.
