Bolton’s Softness On The Road Continues

|

Bolton’s struggles on the road continued with another loss, this time at Fleetwood.

In terms of chances created, the game was level in that regard, but it what the two sides did with them that set them apart, and Fleetwood were far, far better there, with a number of our usual failings showing up.

The first one was an early goal, and not for the first time, it came from us struggling to defend a ball out wide, and Ged Garner was able to tuck it home. Things might have been different had the offside goal had stood, or Alex Cairns didn’t make one of those saves, but then any hope of getting something went when Ricardo Santos was shown a straight red for bringing down Callum Morton when he was through on goal. Maybe Santos thought he had to do that or it would be 2-0, but it still it seemed a stupid decision.

And from there it all caved in, with Harrison Biggins scoring twice in a matter of minutes, amidst some poor defending. It just feels we’re too much of a soft touch particularly on the road at the moment, having lost every league away game since September’s 4-1 win over Charlton. Can MJ Williams change this at the weekend? It’s a lot to ask…
