David Wheater signs a two-year extension on his current contract. We now have him secured until 2016

David Wheater has successfully negotiated a two-year extension to his Bolton Wanderers contract.

Question marks have hung around the central defender after a serious knee injury kept him out of competitive action for most of last season. The 26 year old had just 12 months left to run on his current deal, but Dougie and the team have shown their satisfaction with Wheater`s progress by announcing David will be around until 2016.

How much of the speculation linking Middlesbrough with taking the defender back to the north-east is still contentious, but the club has now allayed any doubt by securing the Teesside`s future in the north-west for the next 3 years.

I`m sure all Bolton supporters are looking forward to Wheater getting his Wanderers career back on track. So, good Luck, David, you may just be the ingredient for success we`ve been missing?
