BWFC: Balancing Act

Has Tom Eaves gone on loan to fund new arrivals, or purely to balance the books?

Dougie hasn`t been shy towards being vocal since his arrival from Crystal Palace nearly 12 months ago. Backhand compliments towards the previous regime, sly digs at the academy set-up and biased optimism for obviously faltering first-team members.

One thing he continues to be adamant about, which he blamed for blighting his chances of promotion last term and being the driving force in both transfer windows, is the imbalance amongst the squad.

Injuries have obviously taken their pound of flesh from the Wanderers` fortunes in the last 2 years. Probably the reason Dougie felt the bench was sparse last season, when a draw needed to be a win and a deficit needed to be overturned. But injuries aside, what is certain this campaign, is the lack of striking options we have available.

With Dougie preaching imbalances, Sordell in London, Craig Davies AWOL and Beckford? well, being Beckford, the last thing you would expect Freedman to do is send Tom Eaves out on loan? unless, of course, our manager had something up his sleeve.

If he does have something planned, he wouldn`t mention it anyway. One thing which has been consistent since Freedman took the reins is his disinclination to reveal anything regarding transfer targets. Not a bad trait to incorporate. But if Eaves` loan is confirmed and Dougie fails to top-up the striking options, the imbalance up-front could topple us over the edge.

I have faith, I just hope it`s not misplaced.
