BWFC: Been Here Before

‘An end appears to be in sight to the long-running takeover battle at Bolton Wanderers, with Eddie Davies set to give the green light to new ownership by the end of this week.

The club wants to have an agreement in place by Friday, which will put them in a strong position to defend a winding up petition at the High Court in London on Monday.

There are the words of Marc Iles for The Bolton News who reports that the long going takeover saga could be nearing an end: full article here- http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wanderers/14280686.UPDATED___Takeover_latest__Wanderers_to_make_ownership_decision_by_Friday/

As always, I’m excited by the news but I have been a Bolton Wanderers fan long enough to question almost every aspect of it.

Who will take over? Roger Tamraz has the money, but is he credible and does he have the club at heart? The same can be asked of some of the less publicised interested parties. Does Sports Shield or the BWSA have enough investment? Why have things been taking so long if all of these parties have been interested for so long?

We’ve been ‘on the verge’ of takeover/administration before, only for parties to pull out or for things not to go through, or for people to come up with misinformed headlines.

The only thing I can really say to generate hype about this is that reporters do seem more confident than on previous occasions, and, with the February 22nd deadline looming, a decision will have to be made quickly if one will be made.

We will just have to see. It could well just be another day at the Vital Bolton Towers office.
