Are Craig Davies and Matt Mills the correct pair to leave the Reebok this season? That’s if there are exits of course
According to reports, Craig Davies and Matt Mills are potential transfer targets for Wolves and Leeds United respectively.
Apparently Wolves have made an approach for the 27-year-old Davies, who only joined the Whites in January from Barnsley after the £300,000 fee was triggered. There has been no confirmation of the move from Molineux but Dougie has since debunked the reports.
If Kevin Doyle moves on from Wolves in the next few weeks, Jackett would more than likely look to add some experience to a young forward line, that currently consists of, Leigh Griffiths, 22, Bjorn Sigurdarson, 21, Jake Cassidy, 20, and Liam McAlinden, just 19. Doyle`s exit may turn the speculation into a formal, concrete bid.
Dougie Freedman revealed an approach from Leeds had been over a deal to take the Mills to Elland Road – and said he would leave any decision on Matt`s future in the defender`s hands.
Freedman also said, Mills would like to stay at the Reebok Stadium and fight for his place despite the possibility of a reunion with Reading`s old boss, Brian McDermott. The now Leeds boss managed Mills at the Madejski Stadium and handed him the captain`s armband in the season leading up to the club`s Championship play-off final defeat to Swansea City in 2011. Reading went on to sell Mills to Leicester City for £5million, at the time sacrificing one of the most prized centre-backs in the Championship. His career since has rambled somewhat and a fleeting spell with the Foxes ended with a move to the Reebok last summer.
Mills` time with the Whites has been indifferent to say the least – he made just 18 appearances last season – and I`m sure Phil Gartside wouldn`t be despondent to remove his salary of around £25,000 a week from their wage bill, especially if that gave Dougie the green-light to go after Dawson.
