BWFC: The Magic Of The FA Cup

I’m trying to be positive

After Saturday’s draw with Eastleigh, we’re still in the hat albeit representing 1/2 of the Eastleigh/Bolton Wanderers duo that have been drawn to face Leeds United.

I had us down to lose against Eastleigh- not because I’m a stupid pessimist but because of that pitch and the negativity that’s been surrounding the club recently. However, we got pretty much the best result we could’ve hoped for- a draw- as a televised replay will bring in much needed revenue. Depressing, I know.

However, I’m backing us to win the replay quite comfortably. Eastleigh have some good players who could make the step up to the Football League and some who have played at a high level such as former Reading and Southampton left back, Dan Harding.

The FA Cup is a huge competition for us this year, probably more than ever now. With our finances so, our position in the Championship looks untenable to me and I’m prepared to write off this season already to be honest and blood young players through ready for League 1. That’s probably the reason why I’m not Bolton Wanderers manager though.

We could be 24 hours away from going into administration if a new buyer isn’t found- Marc Iles breaking the news earlier for The Bolton News, which would guarantee our relegation.

After a horrible season on and off the pitch for the Wanderers, wouldn’t it be nice to see something… anything? A cup run would be magical and provide an opportunity for players who want out to put themselves in the shop window ahead of the summer.
