Clayton Moves to Blackpool

There have been a few ins in recent weeks, including some players out of contract signing back on, but one man who has decided his future lies elsewhere is Max Clayton.

The forward has decided to stay in League One, joining Blackpool, who won promotion from the fourth tier last season, in what Clayton himself has described as a “fresh start.”

He joined from Crewe in 2014 but he could never really get his career going at the Macron, not helped by a series of injuries. In the end he only scored two league goals, but both were fairly important, his first came in the first season, opening the scoring in a 3-1 win against Wigan, having been a surprise starter that night. He then scored an equaliser in the dying embers away to Coventry back in January.

But 27 league appearances in three seasons is nowhere near enough for him, and at age 22, he needs first team football. It depends on how we want to play next season, but keeping our formation that served us well, I`m not sure he would fit in, he seemed more suitable to a slightly wider role.

We hope he does well at Blackpool, and hope he can get his career going.
