Zach Clough only made his Bolton debut in January, he’s gone onto to sign a new long-term contract and bagged his six-goal in nine games on Saturday to, I think, become our top goalscorer!

He’s told the BBC that the impact that he’s made isn’t really a surprise to him, no this isn’t him being ‘arrogant’, for me more him being ‘confident’ – granted there’s a ‘fine line’ between both….

The 19-year-old, who is ‘enjoying’ doing something that he’s ‘waited all his life’ do and to ‘get to where’ he is now, says he just wants this to continue, as he will, to work hard to improve but will also continue to believe in his own ability.

‘I’m not surprised because I’ve worked hard to get where I am.

‘I’ve always scored goals at every level and it’s just working now in the Championship. I believe in what I’m doing and I believe in my ability.’

At just 5′ 7″ the striker has had the ‘you’ll never make it because you’re too small’ thrown at him plenty of times over the years but his argument is that ‘the better players are all small!’

Which, when you think about it the likes of Maradona, Messi and Suarez, to name but three, are hardly giants are they! Not that I am claiming Clough to be in that class, yet at least…. Taunts being ‘throwing in their faces’ is something he’ll keep enjoying, which he’ll certainly be able to keep doing if he can keep performing and keep scoring!
