Goalscorer and match winner Zach Clough has given his reaction to the Brighton game yesterday and said simply put it was ‘job done’ for Bolton.

Having grabbed what turned out to be the winning goal just after the hour mark with his sixth strike of the season, he was obviously pleased to have played his part in bringing our three game losing streak to an end, but he admitted his performance was far from great – but he wasn’t alone in that as it was a poor team showing really.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, he explained.

‘It was a massive win for the lads. We knew before the game that we had to win. It didn’t matter how as long as we got the three points. It wasn’t the best game but we got the job done – that’s all that matters.’

As for his own showing he added.

‘I found it hard today. It is difficult at this level. It wasn’t my best game but I got the goal and we won. We switched things with about ten minutes to go in the first half, with me playing more centrally to save my legs a bit as I was getting a bit tired from tracking back!’

Clough goes on to say that he does prefer playing through the middle though, he feels it’s his best position and it allows him to ‘express’ himself more and play to his strengths.

‘We’re now nine points clear of the relegation zone too so that’s good news. We’ve climbed a few places in the table, and have overtaken Brighton in the process, so that highlights how important it was for us to win.’

He ended by describing Tuesday’s game against Reading as another ‘massive’ game for us and everybody will be hoping we can now register back to back wins and really draw a line under the previous defeats – and for him he’ll take a similar performance as long as we get the result.
