Coventry 2-1 Bolton Wanderers: Highlights and Reaction

Here are the highlights and reaction to (another) away defeat for Wanderers.

This one didn’t seem too bad, considering this was a type of game we could have easily got thrashed in given some of our away results this season. In the end, it was a narrow win for Coventry, which is what they’ve done to most opponents this season.

Bolton’s first half performance wasn’t rated by many, and having scored a very early goal last week, this week it was the other way round as Amadou Bakayoko didn’t take long the head in the opener. Bolton had more chances in the second half with Dennis Politic’s mazy run forcing Coventry’s goalkeeper into a save. We would equalise late on, when Remi Matthews picked out Chris O’Grady with a superb long kick, O’Grady showed a great touch and managed to put it across for Politic, who has now scored in back to back games. Matthews and O’Grady have both come under fire at times, even on here, so credit where it is due.

Frustratingly though, we lost the game in the 90th minute, we didn’t clear well enough and substitute Maxime Biamou would deny us what would have been a fifth point all season.
