Manager Neil Lennon has today completed the speculated loan capture of Crystal Palace centre half Paddy McCarthy.

The 31 year old Palace club captain spent periods of the first half of the season out on loan with League One Sheffield United and the former Republic of Ireland international joins us on a loan spell under the end of the current campaign.

Having begin his career by coming through Manchester City’s youth ranks, he gained experience on loan with Boston United and Notts County before completing a move to Leicester City in March 2005. By the start of the 2006/7 season he been made their skipper and left the following year to join Crystal Palace – being handed their captain’s armband in 2010.

Having been virtually an ever present in the side for the next two years, injury forced him to miss the entire promotion winning campaign in 2012-13 and since then his has found opportunities limited at his parent club.

For Palace this season he has made two appearances, and he made a further eleven during his time at United, scoring once.
