Eagles Opted Not To Fly

Chris Eagles failed to make a Bolton exit last week, when reports said he could and perhaps even would, with it his decision not to move on.

Charlton Athletic and Ipswich Town both wanted to take him on loan until the end of the season but the 28-year-old decided that he wanted to stay with the club and ‘fight for a place’ in Dougie Freedman’s side.

Freedman told the Bolton News: ‘There was a Charlton phone call and we said to him he could go and speak with them and play some football, which he didn’t take up.

‘Then we had a call from Ipswich, but Chris felt the location wasn’t right for him.

‘I can’t guarantee him football right now so I thought it right to give him the chance, but he didn’t take it.’

He went on to insist that he has no ‘issues’ with Eagles with him unable to get back into his plans after injury due to the performances of others but isn’t ruling out him playing again for Bolton this season.

Even if Eagles plays again this season he’ll almost certainly be leaving the Reebok Stadium this summer when his contract ends and I dare say most would have preferred it if he had last week when the chances arose….

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.
