We look at how the former Trotters got on in the second round of group games at Euro 2016
Vladimir Weiss
Added a lot more end product to his performance against Russia than in Slovakia’s first game against Wales. A fine finish after a superb ball from Marek Hamsik saw Weiss score the opening goal in a 2-1 win.
Rating: 8/10
Jan Gregus
Once again, an unused substitute for Slovakia against Russia.
Blerim Dzemaili
Played 83 minutes of Switzerland’s 1-1 draw with Romania. Again, Dzemaili was used as a number 10 playing behind Haris Seferovic, had a few shots, but not much else going for him.
Rating: 6/10
Gary Cahill
Partnered Chris Smalling in central defence for England’s 2-1 win over Wales. Was pretty solid at the back, with the Wales goal coming from a Gareth Bale free kick. Also was a threat at the other end too.
Rating: 7/10
Daniel Sturridge
An excellent second half from Sturridge for England. Ran at Wales, had chances, then scored that winner, showing great close control, and the England fans into delirium.
Rating: 7/10
Jack Wilshere
An unused sub for England.
Jonathan Walters
Picked up an injury against Sweden, so played no part in Ireland’s 3-0 loss to Belgium in Bordeaux.
Eidur Gudjohnsen
Replaced Kolbeinn Sigthorsson late on against Hungary in the Velodrome so had little time to make any sort of real impact. He did however nearly score the winner after Gylfi Sigurdsson teed up a free kick into his path. The shot went just wide.
