Forgotten Man?

Has Dougie forgotten about one of our players?

In the first round of the Capital One Cup last year, 20 year old Sanmi Odelusi and 19 year old Robert Hall were particularly impressive as we beat Shrewsbury Town 3-1. Odelusi scored twice and Hall scored one and assisted one.

Robert Hall who signed from West Ham following a loan spell, while he didn`t feature regularly last season, got 20 odd matches- so he got decent playing time. Odelusi, however seemed to be left out an awful lot despite his impressive display in the cup. He only figured 6 times in the league and was shipped out to MK Dons later on in the season.

At the League One side Odelusi played 5 times in the league, without scoring. This loan move probably should have come sooner for him as he spent quite a lot of time on the bench or not even in the match day squad during the earlier part of the season. This was due to us having too many useless strikers ahead of him in the pecking order.

While he was out on loan, Dougie started experimenting with youngsters such as Oscar Threlkeld and Andy Kellett. Odelusi obviously was not in contention to play- as he was out on loan. I feel that this could have led Dougie Freedman to forget all about young Odelusi. It would be one thing if he felt that he would never break into the first team and to offer him to clubs- like he is doing with Tom Eaves. However, Dougie just isn`t mentioning him.

Before the third coming of Joe Mason, people talked about us having only two senior strikers plus Connor Wilkinson. Dougie said this was the equivalent of having “2 1/2 strikers”- but surely Odelusi should at least be mentioned as another possible junior option? Connor Wilkinson, who looks to be an exciting talent- don`t get me wrong, played at the foot of League 2 last season with Torquay. Odelusi played in the top half of League 1 with MK Dons.

Do you think Odelusi deserves more playing time- or at least a sniff of action? Surely his performance against Shrewsbury is enough to show that he has some talent and warrant the attention of his team`s manager. After all, he must be better than Beckford.
