Four Possible Premier League Free Transfers for Bolton?

|

We’ve had a look at the list the Premier League put out the other day, listing every player last season’s top flight clubs are to release. Some players are taking roles elsewhere in the club, and others have already found new clubs, or even retiring and planning their next move in the game.

Here though, are five players that could potentially do a job at Bolton. Some of these players are older than you’d ideally want, but they’re free.

Here is the full list – feel free to suggest your own targets.

Jon Flanagan – Liverpool

Included Flanagan as we had him on loan last season, so you just never know if we go and try and sign him permanently. I can’t imagine there would be many takers amongst the fanbase, however, with calls to reinstate Mark Little at the end of last season being vindicated by his performance on the final day. His peak years are still ahead of him though, at 25.

Lee Chung-yong – Crystal Palace

The obvious one on the list. Lee was close to coming back last season, but Palace’s injury problems meant the deal was called off, to everyone’s disappointment. The player now finds himself clubless and watching the World Cup at home having represented South Korea at the last two. Bring him home!

Dean Marney – Burnley

We need midfielders, and he plays there. That’s a plus. Age would be a big problem, as he turns 35 in January, as is the fact he didn’t play last season. Nottingham Forest are keen on him though, which could suggest he could still do a job at Championship level.

Baily Cargill – Bournemouth

A younger player at 22, he never made the grade at Bournemouth, and has been loaned out to a number of clubs, mainly at League One level. There is plenty of time for him to develop though, and he can play anywhere along the back.
