Bolton twice had a lead at the weekend, although twice this was lost in a draw at the Macron Stadium.

When Nottingham Forest came to town at the weekend, from the outside looking in anyway, few seemed the think that Wanderers would get much. In the end it was a point in a 2-2 draw.

Dougie Freedman, speaking after the game, thought the game was ‘a good advertisement’ for this level of football with the attacking play from both ‘very good’.

He also felt a draw was about right: ‘I thought it was a very good attacking display by two teams and a good advertisement for the Championship.

‘I felt a fair result was a draw. We played against a very good team who have spent a bit of money but I didn’t think there was a lot in the game.’

Joe Mason (4), back for his latest loan spell, wasted little time in putting Wanderers ahead but in a frantic eight-minutes Britt Assombalonga (27) first levelled up for Forest before David Wheater (29) restored the lead just two-minutes later.

Assombalonga (35) had the last say on the afternoon when he fired home a penalty too see the game end, as it did at half time, two-two.

Mr Ecky and Nicky Crompton are still, for now, having a staff writer to help fill in!
